ABOUT US

Freedom, Inc. works to ensure that elected officials who care about the community are elected to office.  Elected officials become representatives in government who present the views of the community on education, public safety, economic development, housing and a variety of issues that affect families, youth and the elderly.

Freedom, Inc.`s political arsenal unmasks issues that may negatively or positively affect the livelihood of the community it services.  Freedom, Inc. supports viable solutions on issues that are at the heart of the community.

Freedom, Inc. is committed to fighting for equality and justice on issues such as affordable housing, energy costs, indigent health care, public safety, education and public transportation.   In politics, "the squeaky wheel gets the grease."  Without Freedom, Inc`s strong political voice, government emphasis will shift from public education to private education, from rehabilitation to incarceration, from inclusion to exclusion and from public health care to private health care.

Freedom, Inc. also campaigns on behalf of the candidates and issues that it supports.  These campaigns include, among other things, making phone calls, canvassing and working the polls on election day for candidates and issues that will positively affect the community.

In addition to the state, city and county elected officials that are members of Freedom, Inc., committeemen and committeewomen (from different wards in the city) are a key component of the organization and help to move along its initiatives, including assisting with Freedom, Inc.`s campaigns.

Freedom, Inc. works tirelessly to educate voters and to register new voters at various Freedom, Inc. events, other events around Kansas City and voter registration drives.

Recently, Freedom, Inc. held a community forum to bring neighborhood organizations together with Freedom, Inc. members and elected officials to facilitate the dissemination of important information affecting the community and to hear the concerns of members of the community.  Freedom, Inc. also held a utility forum to bring members of the community together with organizations that deal with assistance regarding utility service.

Freedom, Inc. also holds an annual cookout to bring members of the community together with Freedom, Inc. members and elected officials.
